“Tremblant Has Everything It Takes to Host the World Cup”

In the fall of 2023, just a few weeks before the inaugural World Cup event at Tremblant, Nicholas Cogger shared his excitement as the event drew closer. In his view, Tremblant has everything it takes to host an event of this magnitude, from its facilities to its well-established transportation systems. He also highlighted the energy of the crowd and the unique experience of watching a World Cup race from the foot of the slopes.

To welcome the world’s top female skiers, the Flying Mile was transformed into a world-class race course through extensive widening and meticulous improvements. Nicholas also highlighted the dedication of Tremblant’s teams and the essential support of volunteers in delivering impeccable race conditions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” left_padding_desktop=”5%” constrain_group_2=”yes” right_padding_desktop=”5%” left_padding_phone=”0%” constrain_group_6=”yes” right_padding_phone=”0%” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” row_position_desktop=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” gradient_type=”default” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” flex_gap_desktop=”10px” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” max_width_alignment_desktop=”default” max_width_alignment_tablet=”inherit” max_width_alignment_phone=”inherit” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][nectar_video_lightbox link_style=”play_button_mouse_follow” image_url=”2150″ mouse_indicator_style=”solid_color” mouse_indicator_color=”#d80e26″ video_url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-AQKJL8nsM” image_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” row_position_desktop=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” flex_gap_desktop=”10px” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” max_width_alignment_desktop=”default” max_width_alignment_tablet=”inherit” max_width_alignment_phone=”inherit” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]

About the Successful Return of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup

Following the inaugural edition in December 2023, Nicholas reflected very positively on the event. The athlete experience had been a top priority, with meticulous course preparation, first-rate snowmaking and excellent snow quality.

“We gave it everything we had,” he explained. Despite the risks involved in hosting a competition so early in the season, the efforts paid off. Feedback from Canadian and international athletes, as well as the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), was extremely positive, with many noting that the event already felt well established despite being its very first edition.

This strong foundation encouraged the organizing team to continue focusing on the athlete experience while exploring ways to further enhance the spectator experience.

“We’re always looking to evolve and find new ways to improve the experience.”

Always Learning and Improving

For Nicholas, meticulous planning and the contingency measures put in place by the organizing committee played a key role in the success of the inaugural edition. Several improvements have since been implemented. The general admission spectator area has been expanded, with more food and beverage options and additional entertainment. A third giant screen also provides a better view of the action, while the grandstand can now accommodate more spectators.

On the mountain, the windbreak wall at the start of the Flying Mile has been reinforced. It had played a crucial role in allowing the race to go ahead on the second day of competition in 2023. A permanent timing hut has also been planned for the finish area.

These preparations reflect the organizing committee’s commitment to learning from every experience and continuing to evolve the event.

“We’re not satisfied with the status quo,” says Nicholas.

“The true evolution of this event lies in the impact it can have on Quebec’s ski community.”
