A member of the Canadian alpine ski team and a Tremblant ambassador athlete, Valérie Grenier has long shared a special connection with the mountain. From her summer training in Mont-Tremblant to racing down the Flying Mile in front of family, friends and Canadian fans, discover her journey, her memories and the moments that have shaped her story with the PwC Tremblant World Cup.

Tremblant, a Home Away from Home

A native of St-Isidore, Ontario, Valérie Grenier has been coming to Tremblant since childhood, and her family has a home in the area. A Tremblant ambassador athlete for several years, she has developed a special connection with the mountain over time and now feels right at home here. Her connection to Tremblant extends far beyond the time she spends on the slopes.

In the summer of 2023, Valérie settled in Mont-Tremblant to continue her physical preparation for the upcoming ski season. Strength training, road and mountain biking, yoga and paddleboarding were all part of her training routine.

“All my training happens here at Tremblant. It’s really the perfect place for me to do it. […] I’m extremely happy to have Tremblant’s support and to now be here, at home, to race. It’s a dream come true!”

The Dream of Racing at Home

In 2023, the arrival of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup at Tremblant took on a very special meaning for Valérie. A few weeks before the competition, she took us onto the Flying Mile, which had been transformed to welcome the world’s best female skiers, and shared her excitement about racing in front of Canadian fans.

Racing at home brought both added pressure and immense pride: the opportunity to compete in front of her family and friends, while also introducing her teammates to a place that holds a special place in her life.

Her Journey Back to the Top

That first edition ultimately allowed her to live out her dream: racing in an Audi FIS Ski World Cup at Tremblant in front of her home crowd. Just a few weeks later, in January 2024, however, her journey took an unexpected turn. A serious crash during the Super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, brought her season to a premature end and marked the beginning of a long rehabilitation process.

We had the opportunity to follow Valérie through the different stages of her return to competition and document her journey in the feature « Aweille en bas! », which highlights the work and determination it took to return to her best.

Months of hard work, perseverance and determination allowed her to return to competition during the 2024/25 season. Her journey reached another milestone at the 2025 PwC Tremblant World Cup, when Valérie claimed the bronze medal in the first race, in front of her home crowd at Tremblant.

“When my teammates jumped into my arms, I just burst into tears… I’d been waiting for this for so long — with the injury, the comeback — it really took time. It feels so good to be back on the podium.”
— Valérie Grenier, quoted in La Presse, December 6, 2025

Getting to Know Valérie Grenier

Valérie’s story continues to unfold with each season and each edition of the PwC Tremblant World Cup. To get to know the athlete beyond the competition, she also took the time to answer a few of our questions.

1

What is your favourite ski run at Tremblant?

I would say it’s probably the Erik Guay on the South side. I also really like the Beauvallon trail. When I was younger, I loved it so much, and I even thought it was called “Beau Ballon.” I think that’s adorable! So, it has always been my favourite ski run here.
2

What song do you listen to before a race?

Before every race, I have a specific playlist that I listen to. It’s quite varied, with songs from different genres, so it’s hard to describe. Many of these songs are from the 2000s, such as “Fergalicious,” and that kind of fun music that you can sing and dance along to the lyrics.
3

Which do you like better: first tracks or skiing in the afternoon?

I would say that I prefer skiing the first tracks early in the morning right when the mountain opens for the day, rather than skiing in the afternoon.
4

Do you prefer skiing on groomed trails or a powder day?

I prefer a powder day over groomed trails, no questions asked!
5

South or North Side: which one is your favourite?

That’s a tough choice, but I will choose the North side.
6

What is your preference between spring skiing and winter conditions?

I really enjoy spring skiing when it’s warm enough, but you can still ski without having to wear too many layers. I think it’s perfect!
7

How do you like your poutine?

My tastes are quite simple; I love a classic poutine, which is just fries with cheese and gravy. Otherwise, I like to add bacon to it.
8

Do you prefer a beaver tail or maple taffy?

That’s a very difficult choice! But I’m going to have to go with a Beaver Tail. I love maple taffy, though; it’s definitely a close second.
9

What is your go-to après-ski snack?

I’m a big fan of eggs; I eat them very often. They are my favourite snack at any time of the day!
10

Do you have any last words to say to your fans?

I want to say a big thank you to my fans and everyone here to watch me race. I truly feel your support from afar, and it makes me really happy. Also, I hope all the girls on the World Cup circuit will have fun here and that they’ll enjoy Tremblant as much as I do.
