Learn more about Valérie Grenier, athlete ambassador for Tremblant and member of the Canadian national alpine ski team. Originally from St-Isidore, Ontario and having a family home to the region, Valérie has been skiing at Tremblant from a young age. It was a great honour for her to race at home last December during the PwC Tremblant World Cup in front of her family and friends, and to show her teammates her home.

We hope to see Valérie skiing in the Flying Mile course during the 2nd edition of the PwC Tremblant World Cup, on December 7 and 8, 2024!

Since when have you been a Tremblant athlete ambassador?

I have been part of the great team of athlete ambassadors for Tremblant for over 5 years now. I am extremely grateful for the support I’ve received from the resort throughout my skiing career and to be here at home for the race this weekend.

You excited to race in Quebec, and especially at home?

I am very excited to race in Quebec, and especially at home—it’s truly a dream come true. Just having the chance to compete at home with all my friends and family who are coming to support me, and to show my teammates and everyone at the World Cup where I come from and where I live, is something that makes me extremely proud.

What is your favourite ski run at Tremblant?

My favourite ski run at Tremblant is probably the Erik Guay on the South side. I also really like the Beauvallon trail. When I was younger, I loved it so much, and I even thought it was called “Beau Ballon.” I think that’s adorable! So, it has always been my favourite ski run here.
4

What song do you listen to before a race?

Before every race, I have a specific playlist that I listen to. It’s quite varied, with songs from different genres, so it’s hard to describe. Many of these songs are from the 2000s, such as “Fergalicious,” and that kind of fun music that you can sing and dance along to the lyrics.
5

Which do you like better: first tracks or skiing in the afternoon?

I would say that I prefer skiing the first tracks early in the morning right when the mountain opens for the day, rather than skiing in the afternoon.
6

Do you prefer skiing on groomed trails or a powder day?

I prefer a powder day over groomed trails, no questions asked!
7

South or North Side: which one is your favourite?

That’s a tough choice, but I will choose the North side.
8

What is your preference between spring skiing and winter conditions?

I really enjoy spring skiing when it’s warm enough, but you can still ski without having to wear too many layers. I think it’s perfect!
9

How do you like your poutine?

My tastes are quite simple; I love a classic poutine, which is just fries with cheese and gravy. Otherwise, I like to add bacon to it.
10

Do you prefer a beaver tail or maple taffy?

That’s a very difficult choice! But I’m going to have to go with a Beaver Tail. I love maple taffy, though; it’s definitely a close second.
11

What is your go-to après-ski snack?

I’m a big fan of eggs; I eat them very often. They are my favourite snack at any time of the day!
12

Do you have any last words to say to your fans?

I want to say a big thank you to my fans and everyone here to watch me race. I truly feel your support from afar, and it makes me really happy. Also, I hope all the girls on the World Cup circuit will have fun here this weekend and that they’ll enjoy Tremblant as much as I do.
